Gentle Brief

About Gentle Brief

What this is

Gentle Brief is a daily digest of world news, presented plainly. Each story includes a short summary, key facts, context, and links to the original sources.

No algorithms decide what you see. No engagement metrics shape the headlines. Stories are organized by topic and presented in the order they happen.

Why it exists

Most news sites are designed to keep you scrolling. Bold colors, urgent labels, autoplay video, infinite feeds. The information is in there somewhere, buried under everything competing for your attention.

Gentle Brief is the opposite. It's designed to help you read the news and then go do something else. Stay informed without staying anxious.

Principles

  • Plain language. No jargon, no editorializing. Facts first, context second.
  • Source transparency. Every story links to the original reporting. We summarize; they investigate.
  • No tracking. No analytics, no cookies, no ad networks. Your reading habits are yours.
  • Calm by design. The interface is intentionally quiet. If something feels urgent, it's because the story is — not because the UI is trying to make you feel that way.

How it works

Each day, stories are collected from wire services and major international outlets. They're categorized, summarized, and published as a single daily edition.

Developing stories are updated throughout the day and marked with a timestamp so you know how current the information is.
